Friday Fashion Debate: New Years Party Attire

We all know New Years Eve is one of the best days of the year for fashion. Who doesn’t love to get ultra dressed up in your best glam attire and celebrate the New Year with friends and family? I know I do!

First and foremost, the number one most important part of your New Years outfit is SPARKLE! Sequins, shine and shimmer are all welcome textures in the perfect New Years look.

This is limited to the clothing either. Sparkle can be in your makeup, your nails, your accessories, or if you are feeling really fun then do it all!

Secondly, you usually go with something a bit more sleek and slim fitting for New Years. For our Christmas party looks, we talked about full skirts and a-line dresses but with this look you want to show off a bit more. This doesNew Years Eve outfit: not mean you have to wear something super short or revealing. I love the idea of a sequin pant or a sparkly legging with a nice shirt and tailored blazer. Nothing about this looks says inappropriate but the lines are very sleek and clean.

Really though, if I am being honest, this is the one day of the year that limits sort of go out the window. Whatever your style is, start the New Year being the best you! The whole point of a New Year’s party is to remember the year we had and celebrate the one we are about to start and a celebration is about happiness and joy!

Cheers to 2017!

Holiday Season

As we get closer to Christmas, I feel like it is important to talk about giving back. Here at Leonard’s we are big into the season of giving! We started off by doing a canned food drive in November which we donated to a local shelter here in St Augustine that had been affected by Hurricane Matthew. We were the headline sponsor of the Reindeer Run which benefits the Boys & Girls Club and we had a team of over 20 actually participate in the run! Right now we are having a toy drive and I personally plan to go to the Boys & Girls Club when they allow volunteers to come in and help wrap gifts for the kids next week!

It doesn’t matter what holiday you celebrate, or if you celebrate at all. What matters is that this is a time of year where we all tend to indulge one way or another and it is important to remember not everyone is as fortunate.

Big or small, anything helps. If you can’t make monetary donations or go out and buy food and gifts, you can volunteer your time. A lot of shelters and non profits just need an extra set of hands around this time of the year.

I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season!

The Holiday 5

This morning as I was getting ready, I heard the news anchor say that on average, American men and women gain 5-7 lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I was shocked, but only because I think I probably gained that just during the week of Thanksgiving.

Do you cook? If you do, you know that we probably eat more while cooking/ taste testing than we do when we actually sit down to eat the meal. I would say I ate at least four portions of stuffing the day before Thanksgiving and probably the equivalent of two slices of cake and two slices of pie just licking the bowls after I made my desserts. Then the day of I helped my soon to be sister-in-law with the things she was cooking and I am positive I ate two bowls of mashed potatoes and at least one bowl of macaroni and cheese as I helped get those ready.

Not only did I definitely over eat, but we over cooked. After talking to my mom about how her Thanksgiving went back in Texas and how mine went in Florida, we came to the reality that Thanksgiving is one of the most insane days of the year for families. You cook way too much, argue over who makes what, dirty every dish you own and in the end we end up throwing out at least 25% of it, if not more. I mean I don’t know about you but there are only so many days I can heat up mashed potatoes and stuffing before I start to think that I will never be able to eat those dishes again!

This is not to take away from the importance of the holiday. We should stop to be thankful every day but at least on this one day we can really step back and look at our lives and appreciate what we have. I am just saying maybe we could do it with a little less insanity in the prep and wastefulness when we don’t get around to eating that 10th helping of leftovers.

With all that being said, I have to say I am extremely grateful this year! I have an amazing family (blood related and not) who support me whether they are here in Florida or all the way back in Texas. I live in a beautiful home with an amazing fiance who I will marry in just a few short months. Then last but definitely not least, I work for a great company where I enjoy coming in to work every single day!

On behalf of myself and Leonard’s Photography, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Happy Friday Everyone! What an awesome week it has been! Today is the last day of our holiday Senior Sale. It was a great sale so you can only imagine that it has been quite busy! Aside from our Senior Sale, we have been spending more time prepping for our Senior Ambassador Program. We are so excited to launch this program! It is going to be absolutely amazing. The Class of 2014 has no idea what is in store for them!

This is such a great time of the year!  I think I have become the official holiday office elf. I have been busy decorating the front office for the holidays this week! Thankfully, I have had some wonderful helpers! This year we went with a full sized tree as opposed to the mini tree we have been using for many years. It looks fabulous! We love spreading holiday cheer and what better way to do that than with a full sized tree!! (Not going to mention how long it took to hang the lights! Ha!)

We hope you all had an awesome week! Enjoy your weekend! Get out there and take some photos!!

(Here is a photo of our tree! What do you think we should use as a topper?)
