Darcia from Fort Pierce Central is this week’s Senior Spotlight! She is graduating with honors. Darcia told us she loves learning and enjoys working on art projects for school performances as well as roller skating in her spare time.
As far as plans after graduating, she hopes to attend Rollins or UCF and would like to study psychology & sociology. Darcia would like to become a therapist so that she can work with Autistic children. The inspiration for this career path and the decision to work with autistic children came from her twin nieces who are autistic. She told us she is looking forward to “helping them adapt to modern life experiences”.
When asked who the most influential person in her life is, Darcia told us, “my sister Sierra is my roll model in life. She helps me balance the work and fun aspects of my life”.

Our Senior Spotlight this week is JackLynn from East River HS. There is not much this outgoing student doesn’t do. She is involved in many school activities such as, Athletic Training, FFA, BETA, NHS, NTHS, Wrestling, Track, APEX, French Honor Society, CREW and more! JackLynn has also earned over 100 community service hours with a PTA Chapter at her previous elementary school and helped out in a Summer Sports Medicine program and spent time at an Orthopedic Sports Medicine office.
On top of all of her school activities and volunteer work, she also currently works as an office assistant for a local contractor which she told us has taught her organizational skills and responsibility.
JackLynn also has an interesting and unique hobby. She told us she has been scuba diving since she was 10 years old!
Her aspirations after graduating are just as high as her current endeavors. Plans include attending college to study Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy. Her focus will be to obtain her Doctoral of Physical Therapy which she hopes to use by working for the Department of Veterans. She would like to work with returning service men and women who are in need of physical therapy.
We learned that that there are three people who JackLynn credits for inspiring her and leading her to choose the career path of Physical Therapy. She has a brother who tore his ACL playing High School football which initially sparked her interest in sports medicine. She also credits her mom and Mr. Mirocha (Athletic Training Advisor) for being two of the most influential people in her life. She told us, “My mother has always pushed me to reach for the stars and beyond; no matter how much I fought her. Mr.Mirocha sparked my interest in medicine and pushed me to go outside of my comfort zones”.
JackLynn you are obviously a very driven and talented student and we are sure you will succeed on the path to pursuing a career in Physical Therapy! Good luck in all that you do!
Our Senior Spotlight this week is Gabriel from West Orange High School. His school activities include swim team, water polo and Spanish Honor Society. Outside of school he also volunteers with his church by helping feed the homeless and he even went on a mission trip to Nicaragua!
Gabriel has big aspirations for his career. He would like to study pre-law after High School and then plans to go on to Law School so he can become a lawyer.
On top of his school activities and volunteering, Gabriel also had a job which he says taught him to be a better leader and helped him become more responsible.
We also learned that Gabriel’s US History teacher is the one who inspired him to follow his dream of becoming a lawyer. He told us “My US History teacher inspired me to choose the career I want to pursue”.

This week’s Senior Spotlight is Adrian who is a senior at West Orange High School. Adrian is involved in National Honor Society and plays Baseball. He also volunteers at his church and helps with the youth groups.
After graduating from West Orange HS, Adrian plans to study Criminology & Sociology but hasn’t quite decided what school he is going to attend.
Adrian has had some pretty difficult challenges in his life. In 7th grade he was in the hospital in intensive care and it took him a full year to recuperate but he told us that experience made him realize how valuable life is. His dad has also helped him have a positive outlook on life. When we asked Adrian who the most influential person in his life was, he told us, “My dad, when he was younger he came over from Cuba. Growing up he had little and worked hard to achieve what he has today and he taught me to always my give my best”.
Our experiences definitely make us stronger and we are sure that you will use yours to do great things Adrian! We hope you have a great rest of your senior year!
This week’s Senior Spotlight is Michaela, from East River High School. Michaela participates in several school activities such as theater, Improv and National Honors Society. She has also volunteered at the Indie Book Festival.
After she graduates High School, she plans to go to Rollins College to study Theater and Film. She told us ” I’d love to see myself directing either on Broadway or on a move set. It’s a tough business for women to get in to and I want to prove that women can be amazing”. Michaela has been in theater since she was eight years old and is very passionate about the field.
Another interesting thing Michaela told us is that her sister, Rachael, has been her biggest inspiration. She said, “Rachael has inspired me by how strong and brave she is. She’s always by my side whether I’m up or down. Plus she’s been a hard-worker and I aspire to be like her”.
Along with going to college, she also mentioned that after graduating, she is most looking forward to traveling and hopes to go all over the world and volunteer.
Michaela, we love how inspired and driven you are! Let us know once you make it big on Broadway or in Film! We look forward to seeing what great things you do. 🙂
This week’s Senior Spotlight is Shayla from Apopka High School. Shayla is going to graduate with an Engineering Cord and hopes to continue on with that path and attend Florida State or UCF so that she can major in Electrical Engineering. Along with her interest in Engineering, Shayla was involved in Art Club and Stage Management at Apopka HS and has an interest in music.
When asked who inspires her, she told us, “My cousin inspires me to be a female engineer in a world what women have low paying jobs”. Shayla also told us that she feels her involvement in the Engineering Magnet program gives her a unique experience to bring to her studies because it gave her a chance to explore digital engineering. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone in to this career choice and Shayla certainly is taking a great deal of experience with her as she continues her studies in college.
She is also looking forward for the opportunity to travel the world after graduating and experience new cultures.
Shayla you sound like a very dedicated person and are sure to do great things! We wish you the best as you pursue your dreams!
Keith is a senior at ASA Philip Randolph. He is on the Football team there and hopes to continue that into his career by playing professional football. Along with his football dreams, he also hopes to get a degree in Criminal Justice so that he can be a private investigator, an exciting career choice for sure!
When Keith isn’t at school or playing football, he can also be found helping rebuild abandoned homes. He told us that he is often working to help others and looks forward to continuing that after he graduates.He also told us that he sees himself as a “school workaholic”.
When asked who the most influential person in his life is, Keith told us, “My mom, she helps show me the things that I need to learn like where to pay bills, driving, etc”. These are great skills to know before being out on your own and it is wonderful that his mom made sure to prepare Keith for life after he leaves home.

Lindsey is a senior this year at West Orange High School and is in the National Honor Society. After graduating, she is hoping to attend the University of Florida to study forensic science, a very exciting career choice!
When we asked Lindsey what were two interesting facts about herself, she told us that she is an old child and lived in Germany for a part of her life. She also told us that her parents have been a big inspiration in her life and have inspired her to work harder. Lindsey also mentioned that she learned responsibility from her experience babysitting.
We asked Lindsey what was her most challenging undertaking thus far and she told us, “Maintaining good grades, I just work hard until I have what I was working towards”. What a great attitude to have!

Today’s Senior Spotlight is Jose from Bartow HS. Jose participates in Band and H.O.S.A and
plans to graduate with honors. His hobbies include piano and drawing. While attending school, he has also worked at Hungry Howies. He told us that his job had helped him be more organized and able to achieve difficult tasks.
After High School, he is going to attend Polk State and is going to study nursing and later on, pediatrics. He would like to become a Pediatrician. Jose wants to achieve these goals not just for himself, but for his family. When asked who his biggest influence was, he told us “My mom has been through hard times but she has always managed to take care of us no matter what”.
Jose you are clearly a dedicated student with a great plan for your future! We wish you the best!
Our Senior Spotlight this week is about Lake Mary HS Senior, Tytianna. She participates in Dance and is a Cheerleader at her school and has also helped at community events such as her church carnival and volunteered to help feed the homeless.
She is still undecided on which college she plans to attend but she knows for certain that she wants to become a pediatrician. This field was a natural fit for her because she loves working with kids and feel she always knows how to make them laugh and feel comfortable around her.
When asked who the most influential person in her life is, she told us, “My grandfather taught me to never give up no matter what and that people believe in me”.
Tytianna is excited about her future after graduating as is looking forward to a new world she has yet to experience and getting the chance to do things on her own.
