Our Senior Spotlight this week is Gabriel from West Orange High School. His school activities include swim team, water polo and Spanish Honor Society. Outside of school he also volunteers with his church by helping feed the homeless and he even went on a mission trip to Nicaragua!
Gabriel has big aspirations for his career. He would like to study pre-law after High School and then plans to go on to Law School so he can become a lawyer.
On top of his school activities and volunteering, Gabriel also had a job which he says taught him to be a better leader and helped him become more responsible.
We also learned that Gabriel’s US History teacher is the one who inspired him to follow his dream of becoming a lawyer. He told us “My US History teacher inspired me to choose the career I want to pursue”.
Gabriel we wish you the best of luck pursuing your law degree and hope you enjoy the rest of your senior year!
This week’s Senior Spotlight is Adrian who is a senior at West Orange High School. Adrian is involved in National Honor Society and plays Baseball. He also volunteers at his church and helps with the youth groups.
After graduating from West Orange HS, Adrian plans to study Criminology & Sociology but hasn’t quite decided what school he is going to attend.
Adrian has had some pretty difficult challenges in his life. In 7th grade he was in the hospital in intensive care and it took him a full year to recuperate but he told us that experience made him realize how valuable life is. His dad has also helped him have a positive outlook on life. When we asked Adrian who the most influential person in his life was, he told us, “My dad, when he was younger he came over from Cuba. Growing up he had little and worked hard to achieve what he has today and he taught me to always my give my best”.
Our experiences definitely make us stronger and we are sure that you will use yours to do great things Adrian! We hope you have a great rest of your senior year!
This week’s Senior Spotlight is Michaela, from East River High School. Michaela participates in several school activities such as theater, Improv and National Honors Society. She has also volunteered at the Indie Book Festival.
After she graduates High School, she plans to go to Rollins College to study Theater and Film. She told us ” I’d love to see myself directing either on Broadway or on a move set. It’s a tough business for women to get in to and I want to prove that women can be amazing”. Michaela has been in theater since she was eight years old and is very passionate about the field.
Another interesting thing Michaela told us is that her sister, Rachael, has been her biggest inspiration. She said, “Rachael has inspired me by how strong and brave she is. She’s always by my side whether I’m up or down. Plus she’s been a hard-worker and I aspire to be like her”.
Along with going to college, she also mentioned that after graduating, she is most looking forward to traveling and hopes to go all over the world and volunteer.
Michaela, we love how inspired and driven you are! Let us know once you make it big on Broadway or in Film! We look forward to seeing what great things you do. 🙂
This week’s Senior Spotlight is Shayla from Apopka High School. Shayla is going to graduate with an Engineering Cord and hopes to continue on with that path and attend Florida State or UCF so that she can major in Electrical Engineering. Along with her interest in Engineering, Shayla was involved in Art Club and Stage Management at Apopka HS and has an interest in music.
When asked who inspires her, she told us, “My cousin inspires me to be a female engineer in a world what women have low paying jobs”. Shayla also told us that she feels her involvement in the Engineering Magnet program gives her a unique experience to bring to her studies because it gave her a chance to explore digital engineering. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone in to this career choice and Shayla certainly is taking a great deal of experience with her as she continues her studies in college.
She is also looking forward for the opportunity to travel the world after graduating and experience new cultures.
Shayla you sound like a very dedicated person and are sure to do great things! We wish you the best as you pursue your dreams!
